Some brilliant new artists have popped up this year. There are a few that we plan to keep an eye on as they release new tracks, in the hopes that every release will be an improvement on the last. One artist who has been doing just that, is the cool cat known as Pawsa. Have a listen below to what he's managed to do with the vocals from the Gorillaz' 'Tomorrow Comes Today'. I think you'll agree with us when we say 'this is much better than the original and the Gorillaz should burn every copy of the original track and pay Pawsa a lot of money to produce every single one of their future releases'...

I don't usually post hip-hop or R&B as this has always mainly been an electronic music blog but I've been hitting up A VOLTA a lot recently and I have decided that Practice Bravery deserve a post. The coupling of Brandon Rossi and Villa (not the Villa you're thinking of) is just perfection. You can drive to these tracks, you can slow wind to these tracks and you can waste time to these tracks. Every time Alex Moreno aka. Corcovado releases a new track, I download it. I import it to iTunes. I make sure I have enough room to move. I press play. I dance like a maniac for the next four minutes. Every time.

When I asked him to put together this mix, I didn't know what to expect as his style ranges from deep house to disco to booty-bass. What I got was the perfect combo of ghetto bass and the kind of house music that you listen to on those hot summers nights when things start to get really sticky. Those who know me, will know that I've got a whole lot of time for anything that sounds like it's straight out of an 80's movie OST (Big Trouble in Little China, The Breakfast Club, The Warriors etc.). It's got to be guitar or synth heavy and it's got to be suitable for love making.

One of the reasons that I love Luxar so much is that everything he churns out has that wonderful retro sound that makes me want to drive to the beach and get weird in the sand with one of the locals for the summer. Which is EXACTLY how well produced synth-pop should make EVERYONE feel.

We're back once again. The past thirty days have seen nothing but great new releases from the likes of Bicep, Corcovado, French Horn Rebellion, Touch Sensitive and Viceroy (plus all the Daft Punk album teasers we've all seen flying around).

Now, I'm not speaking for the whole GETDOWNORDIE crew but I think this might have been the best month for new music in 2013 so far. Next month can't come soon enough (Random Access Memories - Expected on the 20th of May).

Our boy Lemmy Ashton returns with this lovely little disco number. Get ready for something summery with a cheeky vocal sample thrown in for fun.
